Fine Art & Fine Design

ART & design.

These two disciplines are, of course, closely familial, yet divergent. Art is as autonomous as design is symbiotic. Art will speak in its language about its creator’s deepest impressions of the world, his or her work, and ultimately about art itself. It will display what the artist considers to be most important in lifeā€”the dominant truths, moments, and elements that he or she experiences. It makes a window into the artist’s perspective on what beauty is.

By contrast, design is a relationship between the artist and the client. If the artist has any motive aside from profit, there will be tension between the two, and as relationships are rendered stronger and more fruitful where there is communication and deference, design flourishes when the end product results from the designer’s voice is heeded and allowed to adorn the needs of the client, both parties undertaking the colossal project of understanding a person who is not themselves. Design is the offspring of artist and client, and in the end comes to bear in itself features of both.

Now that we’ve got the philosophizing out of the way, welcome to the site. Please enjoy your visit here, take time to appreciate the details, the nuance, and the hard work and creative pleasure that’s gone into creating this body of work. Feel free to drop a line if you have a question, concern (preferably related to something you see here, but we’re more than willing to make an effort to alleviate your general concerns as well), or interest in working on a project with us. We’re starved for attention and would love to hear from you.
