About Roark Art & Design
This is the page where we get down to the nuts and bolts of what is Roark? Who is Roark? Why is Roark? If you don’t already know, the name Roark comes from The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Howard Roark is an architect, but more importantly, he’s an artist and designer who stands by his aesthetic and philosophical ideas stalwartly. This, of course, is the inspiration for Roark Art & Design—and the reason we’re not swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck.
In the history of graphic design, there have always been cycles alternating between design being valued extremely and design being considered very slightly. With the glut of designers in the world and the advent of Craigslist, design has hit a nader in its ongoing cycle. Particularly in a difficult economy, design is seen as an extra cost rather than a hallmark of a business or brand, and so the work goes often to the lowest bidder, irregardless of talent. At Roark, we want to offer an alternative opinion—an opinion that admittedly costs more, but one that values your product or company image highly. We want to see design go on the ascendency again because we like living in a world where things aren’t ugly, and where attention is paid to the smallest details.
That said, we would love to work with you on whatever project you’ve been dreaming up. Drop a line on our contact page and let’s talk about what you have in mind. If you’re local to San Diego, we can even meet up in one of our favorite local haunts. If not, no problem; we have worked with many different clients as far away as Israel and Uganda, but we specialize in small businesses looking to get an idea or a brand off the ground but don’t know where to get started.
As you can see from the site, we offer a wide range of services including web and print design, logo and brand development, packaging design, video production, and photography. If you have any questions about a service we offer, don’t hesitate to contact us, we’ll be more than happy to reply.
